Transforming Health Care
Electrical Cable Supply (ECS) is proud to announce a monumental milestone in the legacy of its founder, Mohammad H. Mohseni. Through a transformational $20 million gift, Mr. Mohseni has officially established the M.H. Mohseni Institute of Urologic Sciences within the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute. This institute is set to revolutionize the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of urologic diseases, addressing a critical area of health care.
The institute will house six specialized centres, each focused on advancing research and clinical care in areas such as prostate cancer, kidney stones, reproductive health, and adolescent urology. Building on the renowned Vancouver Prostate Centre, this initiative places British Columbia at the forefront of global urologic research and innovation.
Angela Chapman, President and CEO of VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, highlighted the profound impact of Mr. Mohseni’s generosity: “Philanthropy plays a vital role in health care innovation. Thanks to Mr. Mohseni’s vision and the support of hundreds of donors, the M.H. Mohseni Institute of Urologic Sciences will provide world-class care and foster groundbreaking research that benefits patients in BC and beyond.”
The healthcare costs of urologic diseases in Canada exceed $20 billion annually, with prostate cancer alone accounting for nearly $900 million. The institute is dedicated to addressing these challenges by accelerating the translation of scientific breakthroughs into real-world care, improving the quality of life for countless individuals.
